164th Annual Highland Games will be occurring on Friday, August 2 and
Saturday, August 3, 2013. Check the schedule of events for complete times.


About 164th Annual Highland Games

The 164th Annual Highland Games is presented by St. Andrew’s Society of Detroit, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the Celtic heritage through education, musical presentations, and traditional competitions in athletics, piping and dance. The 163rd Annual Highland Games is a celebration of Scottish culture and heritage. As a part of this celebration the following events and activities take place:


  • Two stages of continuous entertainment featuring national and regional artists.
  • Pipe Band Competition.
  • Heavy Athletic Competition.
  • Highland Dance Competition.
  • The “Parade of Clans” featuring Clans from across the USA
  • A wonderful "Wee Bairns" area (for the young children)
  • A diverse marketplace of Celtic crafts, merchandise and collectibles.
  • Scottish and other food vendors.

 

Access/Special Needs

The 164th Annual Highland Games grounds are wheelchair-accessible. However, due to the large size and natural terrain it can be difficult to navigate the grounds with a wheelchair. You must have a State issues handicapped parking permit to use the on-site handicapped parking area. Use the Newburgh Road entrance to access the handicapped parking area.

 

Admission

Advance Games tickets are $12. Games tickets purchased at the gate are $17. Children under 12 are admitted free. Patron Tickets are available.

 

ATM (Automated Teller Machine)

For the banking convenience of our Festival guests, ATM machines are located on-site.


Attendance

The 164th Annual Highland Games historically attracts over 10,000 visitors to Historic Greenmead Park. The park is located at the corner of 8 Mile Road and Newburgh Road in Livonia, Michigan. Guests from across Michigan, the United States and Canada attend the event.


Beverages

Can be purchased at: the entertainment tents, food vendors and water tents. Available: Soft Drinks, Bottled Water, Guinness, Smithwick’s, Harp, Smirnoff Ice and Wine.

First Aid and Emergency


First Aid Location:

First Aid is located across from the Dance Competition at the east end of our venue.
First Aid treatment available only. If additional treatment is necessary, an ambulance will transport you to the hospital and charges will be made by the appropriate hospital and ambulance service.

 

Festival Rules and Regulations

No vehicles may park in unauthorized parking area. Visitors may be towed away at the owner's expense, without notice. Please use the parking facilities.

No vendors may set up their wares, except for those already contracted by St. Andrew’s Society of Detroit.

No printed materials, including political material aimed at any person or party, may be distributed during the festival.

All bicycles must be walked through the grounds. Skateboards and roller blades are not permitted.

Portable tape players and/or radios are not permitted on the festival site.

No drugs or illegal activities will be tolerated at the festival.

Coolers or picnic baskets are allowed at the festival, but not permitted at the Ceilidh.

Do not carry alcoholic beverages outside of the areas where these beverages are served. It is against state law to do so and you will be stopped.

St. Andrew’s Society of Detroit follows regulations established by the Michigan Liquor Control Board. Proper ID must be presented upon request.

Hotels and Camping
